Bird Study Merit Badge Requirements:

1) Come to Arboretum Class on June 18, be prepared to be quite.

2) Homework to do before day of class or after class.:

#2 Show that you are familiar with the terms used to describe birds by sketching or tracing a perched bird and then labeling 15 different parts of the bird.  Sketch or trace an extended wing and label six types of wing feathers.
           ( Help sheet for this requirement #2 will be given to scouts)
          Note: We will start #2 at 8:15pm in front of the Arboretum.

#8 Do ONE of the following (at home, before or after class). For the option you choose, describe what birds you hope to attract, and why.

    a. Build a bird feeder and put it in an appropriate place in your yard or another location.
    b. Build a birdbath and put it in an appropriate place (can be a upside down trash can lid that you keep filled with fresh water in your backyard).
    c. Build a backyard sanctuary for birds by planting trees and shrubs for food and cover.


Admission free on the third Tuesday of the month (No tram on these days.) No food or drinks allowed.
